At the High School level, students ARE NOT routed for school bus transportation UNLESS YOU REQUEST SERVICES ANNUALLY. This allows Transportation to reduce costs and effectively use equipment and drivers where they are needed by routing only the the students that need a bus ride. Completion of this form is required for the following:
Current School Year: prior to transportation being arranged for your student.
New School Year: before May 30
Q. My student is in sports and will not begin riding until mid October, should I sign them up as a bus rider?
A. No. Currently, students that have not used the bus within two weeks are dropped from the bus route. If your student will need transportation more than two weeks after school starts, you need to complete the Opt In form a few days before they need to begin riding. Transportation will contact you as soon as your student has been assigned to a bus.
Q. Could my student ride the bus if their car breaks down?
A. If there is an active stop close to where you live, we can get them on the bus immediately. If not, you would need to provide alternate transportation until we can get them routed on a bus. Timelines are: the month of August up to a two week delay; September-May within 48 hours of the receipt of the form.
Q. I would like to leave my student on the bus list just in case he/she may need a ride. Can I do that?
A. No. If they do not ride the bus after two weeks they will be dropped from the bus list.
Q. My student only needs a ride one way. Can they still be assigned a bus?
A. Yes, please complete the form for bus service and they will be routed.
